Ontario’s new consolidated workforce nomination model
Ontario replaced its previous stream structure in 2026. The Ontario Workforce Priority Stream is now the active OINP pathway.
Program overview
Ontario launched the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream and closed all other OINP streams. It provides a pathway for qualifying foreign workers with an eligible Ontario job offer and for eligible self-employed physicians without a traditional job offer.
For job-offer cases, the employer initiates the process and seeks approval of the employment position. The candidate then registers an EOI and may apply only after receiving an invitation.

REDI regional immigration initiative relaunched through 2027
Ontario announced a new round of the Regional Economic Development through Immigration (REDI) initiative, running through December 2027. It allocates nomination spaces within OINP to six partner communities: Greater Sudbury, Kenora District, Nipissing District, Rainy River District, Renfrew County and Thunder Bay.
No separate REDI application is available. Interested workers must satisfy the applicable OINP requirements and selection process. A job in a participating community does not by itself guarantee an invitation or nomination. The province describes the initiative as supporting skilled workers and employers with identified regional labour needs.

October 2026 OINP Update
Ontario Workforce Priority: new earnings-history tier
Effective October 5, 2026 (announced October 7): The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program added a 10-point earnings-history bracket for candidates who earned at least CAD $80,000 in one qualifying year during the past five years, supported by a Canada Revenue Agency Notice of Assessment. The previous top bracket of $70,000–$79,999 earns 8 points. Ontario states that the adjustment has been applied automatically to existing expressions of interest; no duplicate EOI is required. These are EOI ranking points, not an eligibility guarantee or an invitation to apply.
